radar delivers final dvd's to jafra

RADAR has delivered its final DVD masters to Jafra Cosmetics for both the Puerto Vallarta Summer Trip (English, August 4-6) and Hawaii Summer Trip (Spanish, August 10-13). The English DVD master was completed last Wednesday in time for the 400 copies to be made by AMS in Westlake. The Spanish DVD master was delivered last Friday in time for 1,250 copies to be made by August 8th. Both DVD's feature several videos: the re-launch of Jafra's legendary Royal Jelly product line (edited by Gorman Stanley); the launch of Mystique, Jafra's Fall 2006 color collection (edited by Alexander Shroeder); a tribute video to Jafra's founder, Jan Day and the Jan & Frank Day Award video (both edited by Drew Lucas & Corey Yaktus). Corey also created an animated video that features Jafra's "mascot" Lulu in a Hawaiian hula skirt, giving guests who are registering a recap of the agenda in Spanish. In addition to the videos being produced, several wallpapers and keynote presentations (in both English & Spanish) are being produced by RADAR.

jaxon elio lucas

Jaxon Elio Lucas (pronounced "ee-lie-oh"). 7 pounds, 14 ounces. Born on July 23, 2006 at 12:30 pm. Drew & Dena are at home and doing well -- they are surrounded by family members who are helping Dena with Jaxon while Drew recovers from his blood clot (detected by a doctor in the room on the 22nd). Here are a few quick pics (it was dark in the room and a flash wasn't an option). Also, be sure to check out Jaxon's official website by clicking here.

connecting collaboratively (by matthew warren)

As I write this blog entry, dozens of talented people are busy working on putting together a huge event for one of our clients. A co-producer is 3,000 miles away meeting with vendors and finalizing the details of this event; four editors will be working all night, putting the final touches on the 18 videos due by next Tuesday; dancers are being choreographed; presentations are being created; designers are making costumes and constructing set pieces; travel plans for the 13-person staff & crew are being booked and deliverables are being approved, revised, tweaked and finalized all within a matter of hours. It's always fascinating to me how anyone would want to be in this crazy business. But I think the reason balances on one word: collaboration. There's something amazingly powerful about connecting with another person (much like yourself) on a creative level and experiencing the satisfaction you feel when you've built something from nothing and get to stand back and appreciate it for a moment or two. The collaborative cycle is completed when that tangible creation will be seen and enjoyed by someone you've never even met!

OK, enough deep thoughts for this evening, back to work...

it's a privilege for radar

Privilege, the newly-renovated upscale club on the Sunset strip, and LA-based Wendy Creed Productions, called RADAR Creative to produce a 40-minute media loop that will play on several plasma monitors and a 10x20-foot wall throughout the space. The loop features water environments, slow-moving imagery and motion graphics designed to act as a backdrop inside the upscale club. RADAR's Drew Lucas designed the DVD loop for the permanent install which is being executive produced by Wendy Creed Productions.

A "close-to-final" version of Interthinx's "FSI: Fraud Scheme Investigation" screened in front of a focus group Friday and received rave reviews from all of the viewers. "FSI" is not scheduled to officially premiere until the QA Conference in September in San Diego but it was important for the movie's producers to gather feedback before wrapping up the final stages of post production. Red Flag Training chapters still need to be cut together and DVD mastering will take place between now and August. RADAR's Corey Yaktus is overseeing post production for "FSI" -- for more information, visit the website by clicking here.
